Under Graduate & Post Graduate Scholarships for studying in India

The High Commission of India Colombo has announced the offer of Forty (40) scholarships for Sri Lankan Nationals under the "Scheme of Scholarship for Nationals of Sri Lanka" for undergraduate courses and five (05) scholarships under the "Commonwealth Scholarship/Fellowship plan" for postgraduate course in various Indian Universities, during the forthcoming session of 2011 to 2012.

High Commission of India selects meritorious young Sri Lankan nationals for these scholarships, in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Sri Lanka, for pursuing various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different universities. The Ministry of Higher Education has invited applications from eligible candidates and the last date for submission of duly filled up application forms is 17th January, 2011

All scholarships cover full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course and students are also paid a monthly sustenance allowance. The scholarship also covers accommodation allowance and an annual grant for books, stationary. Besides, all ICCR scholars in India are provided full healthcare facilities, first class train fare and an annual grant for educational tours to various parts of the country, apart from several other auxiliary benefits.

On Arrival Visas In India.

India is issuing on arrival visas to the following country passport holders at the immigtation counter. Tourists from Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Singapore are the eligible to get the visas on arrival. This is an experimental one and if it goes well then many other country tourists will be allowed to get the on arrival visas. Currently millions of tourists are coming over to India to have their vaccation and tour plans. Many Cruise ships are calling Indian ports on the routine call.




Indian Visa rules being tightened.

Indian visa rules require the tourists on five or 10-year visas to leave the country once they complete 180 days of stay in India. People from 14 countries are eligible for to apply for this long term visa and many of the business people take this visas to avoid the delay and troubles to get one business visa. These people normally go in to Nepal or Sri Lanka and come back after a little relax over there. Now the Indian authorities made it tough for them by requesting them to stay out of India for 2 months and then to enter in to the country with their long term visa.
